News Room Reports : An afternoon ride home from school turned tragic on Friday when eight-year-old Supriya Khan died following an accident on the main access road at Parika Backdam.

Supriya, a Grade Three student at Parika Back Primary School, was riding home with her father, 32-year-old Imran Khan, on an electric bike around 3:30 PM when the incident occurred.
According to a police statement, the accident involved a motor pickup truck, GAB 8162, driven by 22-year-old Arif Alli of Parika. As the pickup attempted to overtake the electric bike, it collided with them, throwing both Supriya and her father onto the roadway.
Supriya was transported to De Kinderen Public Hospital in an unconscious state but was pronounced dead upon arrival. Her father is hospitalized with a fractured skull.
The child’s mother, Ramona Rackbar, expressed her heartbreak over the loss. “I am really broke. I cannot eat. I am only living off of liquid. I can’t function,” she told reporters. She also revealed that Imran, still in the hospital, is unaware of their daughter’s passing.
Police conducted breathalyser tests on Alli, which indicated a blood alcohol content well above the legal limit. He remains in custody as investigations continue.
The body of little Supriya has been taken to Ezekiel Funeral Home, where a post-mortem examination is expected to be conducted.
