Two Dead in Soesdyke-Linden Highway Accident

Two men tragically lost their lives in an early morning accident on the Soesdyke-Linden Highway today. The victims have been identified as 54-year-old Chinese national Da Tai Lei and 87-year-old Lethem resident Edward Singh. A third man, Wen Wu Lei, has been hospitalized with serious injuries.

The incident occurred just after midnight when the trio was traveling in a 4×4 pick-up and collided with a truck that was parked unlit along the highway. According to police reports, the truck’s driver, Liston Marcus, had experienced mechanical issues and left the vehicle without lights, reflectors, or any warning devices.

Authorities stated that the pick-up was traveling at a high speed when it struck the back of the parked truck. The three men were extracted from the wreckage and rushed to the hospital, where two were pronounced dead. The third man received emergency care.

Marcus has since been taken into custody and is expected to face charges related to the incident.
