
Cleto Escobedo III, the bandleader of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” for 22 years, has died at the age of 59. Jimmy Kimmel announced the news on social media, expressing that they lost “a great friend, father, son, musician, and man.”
Kimmel reflected on their lifelong friendship, having grown up as neighbors in Las Vegas, and highlighted Escobedo’s role in forming the band Cleto and the Cletones.
Escobedo had been with the show since its premiere in 2003. Details regarding the cause of death have not yet been made available.
Upcoming performances include Grammy-winning musician Christopher Cross and singers Debbie Gibson and Susanna Hoffs, who are set to appear this week.
