
Lisa Ramnarine, a 27-year-old resident of Hague, West Coast Demerara, has been convicted of cocaine trafficking and sentenced to 32 months in prison, along with a fine of $810,000. The verdict was delivered by City Magistrate Leron Daly.
Ramnarine’s charges stemmed from an incident on June 7, 2022, when she was apprehended at the DHL Shipping company while attempting to ship 500 grams of cocaine concealed within several small Hindu religious ornaments.
Despite denying the allegations throughout the trial, the Magistrate found Ramnarine guilty after reviewing various testimonies.
At the time of her arrest, she was a well-known figure on social media, boasting over 60,000 followers on TikTok, where her popularity had garnered significant attention.
The sentencing marks the culmination of a lengthy legal process, drawing attention to the ongoing issues related to drug trafficking in the region.
