The Universal Church in Guyana announced the removal of a pastor involved in a heated confrontation with a driver over parked vehicles outside the church on Charlotte Street. The incident occurred on Monday and was captured on video.
During the altercation, the pastor objected to the driver’s car being parked on the parapet, where no-parking barriers were ignored. At one point, he reportedly armed himself with a cutlass while attempting to block the driver’s exit.
In a statement, President of the Universal Church in Guyana, Pastor Dilipchand Bikharie, confirmed that the pastor has been disqualified from his position due to his unacceptable behavior. He apologized to the public for the pastor’s actions, emphasizing the church’s teachings of love, peace, and hope.
“The Board of the Universal Church has come to an agreement that this pastor is no longer qualified to serve here,” Bikharie stated.
The incident also prompted the Georgetown City Council to issue a reminder regarding the illegal installation of no-parking signs and barriers, clarifying that the church had no authorization for private parking. The Council took immediate action to remove the unauthorized signage.
