An intelligence-led operation in East La Penitence on Friday resulted in the discovery of an illegal firearm and ammunition.

According to police reports, officers observed a motorcar parked along East La Penitence Front Road. As they approached the vehicle, a male exited and attempted to flee the scene. However, law enforcement quickly apprehended him.
During a search of the suspect’s person, police found a .32 pistol concealed in his pants, along with a magazine containing six live rounds of matching ammunition. The suspect, identified as a 29-year-old security guard from East La Penitence Front Road, was arrested and taken to the East La Penitence Police Station, where investigations are ongoing.
A subsequent search of the motorcar yielded no illegal items. The police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
