Shawn Mounter, also known as “Wannie,” a 32-year-old resident of Hope Lowland on the East Coast Demerara, was arrested on Friday, January 2, 2026, by officers from the Cove and John Police Station. Mounter was found in possession of 30 grams of cannabis and 0.8 grams of cocaine.
Following his arrest, Mounter was charged and appeared in the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court No. 1 on Monday, January 5, 2026, before Magistrate Sunil Scarce. He faced two charges: Possession of Narcotics and Possession of Narcotics for the Purpose of Trafficking.
During the court session, the charges were read to him, and he pleaded not guilty to both counts. The magistrate granted bail set at $100,000 for each charge.
The case has been adjourned, with the next court date scheduled for January 25, 2026.
