Authorities are investigating the discovery of 97 grammes of suspected cannabis found at the home of a farmer in Timehri North, East Bank Demerara (EBD).

According to a statement from the Guyana Police Force (GPF), police acted on information received, arriving at the location around 17:30 hours on Friday. An initial search of the house yielded no results. However, a subsequent search of the yard, conducted in the suspect’s presence, led to the discovery of a black plastic bag along the western fence line.
Inside the bag, officers found twenty-three red transparent plastic bags containing leaves, seeds, and stems, as well as ten transparent zip-lock bags with similar contents, all believed to be cannabis.
The farmer was informed of the offence, cautioned, and arrested. He was taken to the Timehri Police Station, where the suspected cannabis was weighed in his presence, totaling 97 grams. The drugs were then marked, sealed, and lodged as evidence.
Investigations are ongoing to determine further details regarding the case.
