The Guyana Police Force has launched an investigation into an assault incident that took place on Saturday, January 25, 2026, around 14:00 hours at First Lady Park. The event, which was captured on video and has since circulated widely on social media, shows three males assaulting another male.
Preliminary investigations indicate that, immediately after the assault, a motor vehicle with the registration number PGG 6502 was used to transport the perpetrators from the scene. Following tips received from the public, police were able to trace the vehicle to Zeelugt, East Bank Essequibo.
Upon locating the vehicle, officers contacted its driver, a 17-year-old male from Zeelugt. The youth cooperated with the authorities, leading them to two additional suspects: an 18-year-old also from Zeelugt and a 16-year-old from Uitvlugt.
The trio, comprising two juveniles and one adult, has been arrested and taken to the Leonora Police Station along with the motor vehicle for further questioning.
As of now, the victim has not reported the assault to law enforcement. The Guyana Police Force is urging the victim, or anyone with information regarding the incident, to come forward and contact the nearest police station.
The three suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue.
