A 38-year-old taxi driver from East Ruimveldt, Jeremy Rodrigues, was charged with unlawful wounding during an appearance on Wednesday at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
Rodrigues was brought before Acting Chief Magistrate Faith McGusty in relation to an incident that occurred on December 29, 2025, in which another individual, Emperor Headley, was reportedly unlawfully and maliciously wounded.

Rodrigues pleaded not guilty to the charge. In his bail application, defense counsel argued that Rodrigues was not a flight risk and clarified that the matter arose from a confrontation between him and the virtual complainant, Headley. The defense further noted that Headley did not require hospitalization and was not experiencing any lasting medical complications.
The prosecution did not oppose the bail request but asked that both men be placed on a bond to maintain the peace.
Acting Chief Magistrate McGusty granted Rodrigues bail in the amount of $50,000 and ordered that both parties be bound to keep the peace moving forward.
The case has been adjourned to February 11, 2026, for further proceedings.
