Police Probe Fatal Shooting at Albouystown; Two Others Injured

Police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at approximately 6:00 PM on James Street, Albouystown. The incident resulted in the death of Kevon Ridley, also known as “Arthur,” a 28-year-old laborer from the same area.

Preliminary investigations indicate that an unidentified male allegedly discharged multiple rounds in the vicinity, fatally injuring Ridley, who sustained multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, where he was pronounced dead.

In addition to Ridley, two other individuals were injured during the shooting. A 30-year-old male vendor from Albouystown sustained a gunshot wound to his back and is currently receiving medical attention at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation. Meanwhile, a 43-year-old spray painter from Lust-en-Rust, West Bank Demerara suffered a gunshot injury to his shoulder and is being treated at a private medical facility. Both injured individuals are reported to be in stable condition.

As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting. The police are continuing their efforts to ascertain the full circumstances surrounding the incident, and an update will be provided as the investigation progresses.
