A fire of currently unknown origin destroyed a house this afternoon in Queenstown, Essequibo Coast, Region Two. The residence was home to 25-year-old healthcare worker Vanlisha Warrick and her seven-year-old son.
Warrick reported to investigators that she secured her house around 8:00 AM before leaving for work. At approximately 5:40 PM, while at a nearby salon, she received an alert about the fire engulfing her home.
According to her sister-in-law, who resides in a separate house on the same property, she noticed smoke and flames coming from Warrick’s house as she was heading out.
The fire service responded promptly to the scene and managed to extinguish the blaze; however, nothing in the house could be salvaged.
Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing.
