Major Dr. Douglas stands out as the first serving Regular Officer in the GDF to earn a PhD, marking a pivotal moment in the ongoing quest for academic and professional excellence within the military.

His doctoral research, titled “An Investigation of Leadership Styles’ Influence on Employees in Guyana’s Public Sector – A Case Study,” delves into the correlation between various leadership approaches and their impact on employee performance and morale in Guyana’s public institutions. The study offers a context-specific analysis pertinent to organizational effectiveness, leadership practices, and public sector management.

Reflecting on his educational journey, Major Dr. Douglas emphasized that the academic experience has significantly enhanced his analytical reasoning and problem-solving skills. He noted that this training equips him to adopt a more structured approach to tackling complex organizational challenges, all while being mindful of the professional responsibilities that come with applying advanced academic knowledge in operational settings.

This achievement highlights the positive influence of the GOAL programme in advancing the capabilities of Guyanese professionals and reinforces the GDF’s commitment to promoting continuous learning and academic growth among its personnel.
