Joseph George, a 53-year-old laborer from Brush Dam, has been charged in connection with an alleged armed robbery that occurred earlier this month.

George faces a charge of Robbery Under Arms, related to an incident involving a 47-year-old self-employed woman from Montrose on February 9, 2026. The incident reportedly took place along the Vryheid’s Lust Public Road.
On Thursday, February 12, 2026, George appeared before the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court, where the charge was formally read to him by Magistrate Clive Nurse. He pleaded not guilty to the accusation and was subsequently granted bail in the amount of $150,000.
The case has been adjourned and is set to return to court on March 17, 2026, for further proceedings.
