A 45-year-old office clerk was apprehended on Thursday following a police operation that uncovered 35.6 pounds of cannabis on Lombard Street, Georgetown. The operation was based on intelligence and took place around 11:00 AM.

Initially, the clerk was found in possession of a transparent zip-lock plastic bag containing cannabis. Further inquiries led police to a black Toyota Allion vehicle, which was searched in his presence. During the inspection of the trunk, officers discovered three large black plastic bags containing 14 bulky parcels wrapped in plastic. Upon opening these parcels, they confirmed that they contained cannabis.
The suspect was arrested and transported to the Ruimveldt Police Station, where the cannabis was weighed in his presence. The total weight amounted to 35.6 pounds, and the evidence was lodged accordingly. The motor vehicle was also seized.
The suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue, with charges pending.
