Vindhya Persaud, the Minister of Human Services and Social Security of Guyana, has responded to an alarming video depicting a school child being dragged by two officers of the Child Protection Agency.

In a statement on Facebook, she announced that both officers have been suspended immediately, and the police have been called in to investigate the incident. Minister Persaud emphasized that the officers will be held accountable for their actions, which contradict the values and operational procedures of the Child Protection Agency.
“The Ministry of Human Services and Social Security is committed to the protection of children. Incidents such as this cannot and will not be tolerated,” she stated.
The minister’s swift action reflects a commitment to uphold the dignity and safety of children within the care of governmental institutions.
