Ricardo Boyer appeared before His Worship Mr. Clive Nurse at the Mabaruma Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, March 4, 2026. He faced two counts of Driving Under the Influence (D.U.I.).

Boyer pleaded guilty to both offenses and was sentenced as follows:
First offense: Fined $200,000, with a default penalty of three (3) months imprisonment if the fine is not paid.
Second offense: Fined $300,000, with a default penalty of four (4) months imprisonment if the fine is not paid.
In addition to the fines, Boyer’s driver’s license was suspended for a period of six (6) months. This case underscores the serious consequences associated with driving under the influence in Guyana.
