Local Construction Worker Charged with Multiple Offences

Tyron Mack, a 31-year-old construction worker of Guyanese African descent from Lot 37 Aurora, Essequibo Coast, has been charged with multiple traffic offences following an incident on February 22, 2026.

Mack faces the following charges:

Refusing to Consent to the Taking of a Breathalyzer Test – in violation of Section 39(e)(5)(a) of the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic Act, Chapter 51:02.

Unlicensed Driver – under Section 23(1) of the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic Act, Chapter 51:02.

Breach of Insurance – contrary to Section 3(1) of the Motor Vehicles Insurance (Third Party Risks) Act, Chapter 51:03.

The offences were committed on La Union Public Road, Essequibo Coast.

On March 13, 2026, Mack appeared before His Worship Magistrate Mr. Ravindra Mohabir at the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court, where he pleaded guilty to all charges laid against him.

As a result, he was fined a total of $55,000, which includes:

$20,000 for refusing the breathalyzer test (2 months imprisonment in default)

$10,000 for driving without a license (2 weeks imprisonment in default)

$25,000 for breach of insurance (2 months imprisonment in default)

The court’s decision underscores the seriousness of traffic violations and the importance of compliance with road safety laws.
