Actar Jay, a 49-year-old taxi driver of Guyanese Indian descent residing at Lot 222 Good Hope, Essequibo Coast, has been charged with the offence of Dangerous Driving. This charge is pursuant to Section 36(1) of the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic Act, Chapter 51:02.

The alleged offence occurred on December 21, 2025, at Perseverance Public Road, Essequibo Coast.
On March 13, 2026, Jay appeared before His Worship Magistrate Mr. Ravindra Mohabir at the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court. During the hearing, the charge was presented to him, and he pleaded not guilty.
Bail was set at $50,000, and the court has scheduled the matter for adjournment to August 7, 2026, for the commencement of trial. The case highlights ongoing concerns regarding road safety and the enforcement of traffic regulations in the region.
