A vagrant was fatally stabbed on Tuesday evening in the vicinity of Leopold and Cross Street, Werk En Rust, Georgetown, after reportedly calling the suspect a “jackass.”

The deceased has been identified as 56‑year‑old Michael Dazzell. The suspect, who remains at large, gives his name as “Devon” or “Six,” police said.
According to investigators, at about 19:00h Dazzell was standing in an alleyway on the eastern side of Cross Street when he called out an individual who was passing by on a black pedal cycle. The suspect reportedly turned, an altercation began, and during the struggle he produced a pair of scissors and stabbed Dazzell several times about his body.
The injured man attempted to flee but collapsed a short distance away and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical technicians. A post‑mortem examination revealed stab wounds to the left upper chest, right lower abdomen and left armpit; an abrasion was noted on the palm of his right hand.
Police subsequently went to an apartment building at Durban and Cross Street and contacted a 29‑year‑old woman believed to be the suspect’s girlfriend. She denied knowledge of his whereabouts. During a search of the apartment, officers found blue three‑quarter pants with apparent bloodstains on the bed, and a black‑handled pair of scissors with blood on the blades in one of the pants’ pockets. A black pedal cycle believed to be the one used by the suspect was also recovered.
The Police Force said it is reviewing CCTV footage from the area and conducting further checks as the investigation continues. The suspect remains wanted; anyone with information is urged to contact law enforcement. This is a developing story.
