Mother Accused in Fyrish Child Killing Remains Hospitalised Under Police Guard

Sarah Elizabeth Shivpersaud, the 26-year-old mother accused of strangling her seven-year-old daughter and attempting to kill her young son, remains hospitalised and under police guard as investigations into the tragic incident continue.

The News Room was reliably informed that Shivpersaud was still receiving medical treatment as of Thursday, following the events that unfolded on the morning of Sunday, April 5, at Fyrish Village, Corentyne, Berbice an incident that has gripped the entire nation.

According to reports, Shivpersaud told investigators she had been experiencing significant emotional distress after her husband left the home several days prior and refused to return. She reportedly stated that on the morning of the incident, she awoke to find no food in the house, after which she suffocated her daughter, Isabella. She also admitted to attempting to suffocate her one-year and nine-month-old son, Ethan, though that attempt was unsuccessful.

A post-mortem examination subsequently confirmed that seven-year-old Isabella Dabadial died as a result of manual strangulation.

Following the attack on her children, Shivpersaud reportedly attempted to take her own life but survived. She remains under police guard at the hospital as the investigation continues.

Murder and attempted murder charges are expected to be laid against Shivpersaud once she is medically cleared.
