Officers of the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) have seized nearly 11 kilograms of foreign marijuana following an intelligence-led operation along the Tuschen Public Road, East Bank Essequibo, on Saturday.
During a search of a motor vehicle stopped along the corridor on April 25, 2026, CANU ranks discovered ten brick-like parcels containing suspected foreign marijuana, which were subsequently weighed at approximately 10.992 kilograms.
Two individuals were arrested in connection with the seizure — 25-year-old Austin Jawahir of Vergenoegen, East Bank Essequibo, and 22-year-old Jose Presilla. Both men were taken into custody and escorted to CANU Headquarters along with the seized narcotics.
Investigations are ongoing.
