A Chinese national is currently in police custody following the tragic killing of a six-year-old boy in Parika this afternoon.
The young victim has been identified as Ifeng Cao, who was also a Chinese national.
Incident Details
According to preliminary reports from the Guyana Police Force, the incident occurred at approximately 3:45 p.m., during which the child sustained a severe chop wound to the neck.
The wounded boy was immediately rushed to the De Kinderen Regional Hospital for emergency medical attention, but was pronounced dead on arrival by medical personnel.
Police Action and Investigation
The male suspect was swiftly apprehended by law enforcement following the attack and remains in police custody. Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Department are currently at the scene and actively investigating to establish the full circumstances surrounding the fatal incident.
