An Endorsement of Corruption is No Endorsement at All!
When opposition figures support the very government they once condemned, it’s not leadership; it’s betrayal. The people of Guyana deserve to call it what it is.
“He who stands for nothing will fall for anything.”

VPAC expresses concern over the recent endorsements of the PPP/C government by several former opposition figures—and troublingly, by at least one current opposition MP as recently as yesterday. Endorsing this government is endorsing corruption, and supporting wrongdoing does not change the culture; it reveals the character of those who endorse it.
Many of these new endorsements are not new at all. They come from former opposition members who were once critical of their factions, publicly shamed, and politically sidelined. Only after charges were quietly dropped and they donned red shirts did their endorsements emerge. Some have already spent a year benefiting from the same administration that once persecuted them. This public endorsement feels less like conviction and more like capitulation.
Meanwhile, the PPP/C government they now praise has overseen what many view as the most corrupt era in modern Guyanese history. Time and again, it has refused to act unless compelled by protest or public outrage.
Where is the justice for 11-year-old Adriana Young, the Henry Boys, Quindon Bacchus, and the civilian shot in Linden? These were not moments of moral courage from the government, but instances of political damage control. Again, I say: he who stands for nothing falls for anything!
So, how can any credible figure now endorse this?
These moves confirm what VPAC has long warned: too many in politics are not here to serve Guyana; they are waiting for a deal. We won’t paint all with the same brush, but those who have sold out were never in real opposition to begin with.
VPAC stands for transparency, accountability, and a government that serves the people, not profit or power. We are not here to play the old political game; we are here to end it.
To those now endorsing what they once condemned:
History is watching. And so are the people.
