The Guyana Police Force (GPF) has announced that Senior Superintendent Himnauth Sawh has been placed on administrative leave following his sanction by the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control for alleged drug trafficking.

In a statement, the GPF noted:
“In keeping with the Guyana Police Force’s Standard Operating Procedure, Senior Superintendent Sawh has been sent on administrative leave.”
Senior Superintendent Sawh joined the GPF on June 3, 2008, and his most recent posting was at the Force’s Projects Office. The decision to place him on leave comes amid ongoing investigations related to the sanctions.
