Former Vice President and Minister of Indigenous Peoples’ Affairs under the previous APNU+AFC administration, Sydney Allicock, has publicly endorsed President Dr. Irfaan Ali for a second term.

Allicock made this announcement following consultations with colleagues nationwide, particularly those from hinterland communities, which he represents. He expressed optimism that a second term for President Ali would lead to greater achievements for Guyana.
“What I would love to see is the unification of this country to benefit from what Guyana has to offer,” Allicock stated in an interview with News Room on Wednesday.
As a member of the Guyana Action Party (GAP), one of the smaller parties in the APNU coalition, Allicock also voiced concerns regarding the ongoing power struggles within the APNU/PNC and AFC.
His endorsement follows a trend of opposition members publicly supporting President Ali and the People’s Progressive Party (PPP) for another term in office.
Allicock, a native of North Rupununi in Region Nine, served as Minister of Indigenous Peoples’ Affairs and as the country’s fourth Vice President from 2015 to 2020.
