Family of Six Displaced After Devastating Fire in D’ Edward Village

A family of six is urgently seeking assistance after a tragic fire destroyed their home on Saturday morning in D’ Edward Village, West Bank Berbice. Rawle Thomas, a local butcher and farmer, was working in the backdam when he received the alarming news around 11:30 AM.

Upon arriving at the scene, Thomas found his home engulfed in flames. Firefighters from the Onverwagt Fire Station were called and managed to contain the blaze, preventing it from spreading to a nearby mall. However, sections of the adjacent building and some windows sustained damage.

Thomas reported that crucial documents and many personal belongings were lost in the fire, adding to the family’s distress. As they navigate this difficult situation, Thomas is open to any assistance from the community.
