After losing their home to a recent fire, the Ramlochan family from Mon Repos on the East Coast of Demerara now has a new place to call home, thanks to the Men on Mission (MoM) initiative.

Beneficiary Sabita Ramlochan expressed her gratitude, stating that her family will now be comfortably accommodated in their new two-bedroom house. “I want to thank the government for the new home which you built for us. I am so happy and grateful,” she said.
During a simple ceremony on Saturday, Minister of Health Dr. Frank Anthony explained that the Men on Mission initiative offered to construct a home for the family after learning of their tragic circumstances.
Dr. Anthony highlighted the importance of the program, which was launched in 2022 by President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali to empower men to create social change by helping those less fortunate. “None of this would have been possible without His Excellency starting this programme,” he noted.
Over the past two and a half years, more than 70 families have benefited from the construction of new homes through this initiative. The 2025 budget has allocated $700 million to expand the MoM program, with $395 million designated to build over 50 houses for vulnerable groups nationwide.
Chief Fire Officer Gregory Wickham, MoM Committee Member Lt. Colonel Bhageshwar Murli, and other representatives from the ministry and Men on Mission were also present at the ceremony, celebrating this impactful and life-changing initiative.
