An adult miner, identified only as “Riley,” was allegedly murdered on Saturday at the Baramani Backdam, Cuyuni River, Region Seven.
According to Police Headquarters, the incident occurred between 12:30 AM and 2:00 AM near a mining camp. Riley was discovered with multiple stab wounds, prompting an immediate investigation.
Two suspects, 21-year-old Rovel Santiago and 20-year-old Shawn Williams, were arrested on Saturday after admitting their involvement in the incident. The suspects guided investigators to the crime scene, where crucial evidence was collected, including suspected murder weapons (knives) and the victim’s blood-stained clothing.
A post-mortem examination is scheduled to determine the exact cause of death. The suspects remain in custody as the investigation continues.
