President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali has announced that a second ferry will begin operations on the Parika to Supenaam route by September. This development was shared during the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) mega concert at the Anna Regina car park, where thousands gathered to hear the president speak.

President Ali confirmed that the contract for the new ferry has already been signed, emphasizing its importance in enhancing connectivity for communities, businesses, and industries in Region Two. “The additional ferry service will play a crucial role in connecting communities and supporting regional trade and food distribution,” he stated.
The introduction of the new ferry service is expected to improve transportation, reduce congestion, and facilitate better access to markets, thereby benefiting local economies.
In addition to the ferry announcement, President Ali revealed plans for two state-of-the-art rice storage facilities, aimed at advancing the agricultural sector. The government is committed to establishing a rice stabilization mechanism to ensure greater success for farmers.
To further support the agricultural community, the president announced the creation of a co-investment development fund, which will provide easier access to financing for farmers, small business owners, and those in the manufacturing sector.
Region Two is poised for significant growth, with several major projects underway, including the construction of a modern Lima Regional Hospital and a nursing school, alongside plans for a medical school branch in the area.
President Ali reaffirmed the PPP/C’s commitment to national unity and development, stating, “If you care about Guyana and your future, then there is only one choice… the People’s Progressive Party Civic.” He emphasized that the government’s ongoing efforts have already delivered tangible benefits, including pensions and support for farmers.
As the president gears up for the next term, he expressed confidence in the PPP/C’s vision for the future, promising that the next five years will bring even greater developments. “What lies ahead will surpass what has already been delivered,” he declared, urging citizens to remain engaged and supportive.
In closing, President Ali addressed ongoing concerns regarding Venezuela’s territorial claims, assuring that the government will continue to protect Guyana’s borders diligently.
