  • News

INFO10 Reports : A suspected armed bandit, identified as 26-year-old Shamar Prince, was fatally shot by police on the night of July 14, 2025. The incident occurred around 23:45 hrs when police, acting on information received, responded to a report regarding Prince, a resident of Wall Street, Amelia’s Ward.

At the time of the incident, Prince was at home with his girlfriend, 22-year-old Whitney Brazilio, in the lower flat of a two-storey concrete house. When police arrived, Brazilio opened the front door to speak with the officers. Shamar Prince, however, exited through the back door and fired at one of the ranks, prompting the officers to take cover.

Prince then fled the apartment, continuing to discharge his firearm at the officers, who returned fire in his direction. He was subsequently found lying on his back in the yard, where he was pronounced dead after being transported to the Linden Hospital Complex.

Upon investigation, police recovered a .38 revolver containing three live rounds and three spent shells next to Prince. A black shoulder bag strapped to him contained several items, including:

A National ID card in his name

A Blu cellphone

$1,040 in cash

A knife

Five grams of a whitish rock-like substance suspected to be cocaine

Prince sustained five gunshot wounds, including one to the left side of the head, three to the left upper shoulder, and one to the right side of the chest. The revolver, ammunition, and other items found with him have been sealed and sent for forensic examination.

The police were investigating a recent armed robbery involving Long Xing, a 38-year-old Chinese businessman from Mackenzie, and other related armed robberies targeting Chinese business establishments in the area at the time of the incident. The body of Shamar Prince remains at the Linden Hospital Complex Mortuary, awaiting a post-mortem examination.
