WIN Presidential Candidate Azruddin Mohamed Outlines Vision for Guyana

Declaring confidence in an election victory, Azruddin Mohamed, the Presidential Candidate for the We Invest In Nationhood party (WIN), unveiled his plan to enhance the lives of citizens during a public meeting in C Field, Sophia, on Monday evening.

Addressing a passionate crowd, Mohamed criticized the current government for its focus on extravagant events and questionable dealings instead of addressing the pressing needs of the people. He expressed concern that, despite Guyana’s booming oil industry, the benefits are not reaching ordinary citizens.

“Every day oil is pumping out there, and yet the people are left behind. We get the crumbs while they host lavish events at the State House, costing between $3-5 million, while our children go to bed hungry. This is the reality of Guyana,” he stated.

The WIN party is set to contest in all ten administrative regions, and Mohamed emphasized that if elected, he would prioritize ensuring that more disposable income remains in the pockets of Guyanese. He vowed to cut unnecessary government spending, noting the current administration’s fleet of 10-12 vehicles, which he argued is an unnecessary expense.

“We have to cut back on government spending to invest in our people,” he asserted, adding that the most vulnerable groups in society are being neglected. To address this, he proposed building a modern senior citizens’ home to replace the aging Palms Geriatric Home, as well as significant upgrades to the Stabroek and Bourda markets.

In a bid to alleviate the cost of living, Mohamed announced plans to reduce VAT from 14% to 10% and lower the Pay As You Earn (PAYE) tax by 5%. “You must be able to afford a vacation, to jump on a plane like others do. This is the One Guyana we want, and come September 2nd, this is the One Guyana we will have,” he declared.

Additionally, Mohamed committed to investing heavily in renewable energy, specifically solar and wind power, stating that the country’s ongoing power supply issues are “embarrassing.”

With his vision focused on inclusivity and improvement for all Guyanese, Mohamed concluded with a rallying call for support, urging citizens to place their trust in WIN for a brighter future.
