Man Apologizes to Makeup Artist After Catfishing Scandal

News

A man has publicly apologized to a local makeup artist after confessing to impersonating her on Facebook to catfish multiple men for sexual and financial gain.

In a letter dated August 6, 2025, Josiah Pearson admitted to using images of a woman known as “Tina” or “Makeup By Tina” to create a fake profile. He revealed that he solicited nude photos and arranged meetings with men while pretending to be the makeup artist.

Identifying himself as gay, Pearson acknowledged that he communicated with at least five men he found attractive. He stated that the impersonation began about a month ago and was done voluntarily. Pearson expressed regret for the emotional harm his actions may have caused to the real Tina and her loved ones.

“Miss Tina, I want you to know I didn’t mean to hurt you nor your friends and family. I think I’m in need of mental help,” Pearson wrote. He noted that Tina had always treated him kindly, which prompted him to issue the public apology.

The letter, which includes images of both Pearson and the victim, along with a photo of his national ID card, appears to be an effort to take responsibility for his actions and clear the air regarding the incident.
