Nandlall Dismisses Allegations of Corruption Against Government Officials

News

Attorney General Anil Nandlall has rejected corruption allegations made against government officials by billionaire gold trader Junior Baksh, labeling them as “fake.” The allegations, which include claims of illegal gold trading, were made in an interview released by activist Melissa Atwell.

Nandlall suggested a political motive behind the allegations, linking them to the newly formed WIN party. He noted that Baksh indicated the interview was meant for a specific purpose and not intended for public disclosure.

Two other businessmen named in the interview have denied any wrongdoing and threatened legal action. Baksh stated that the interview should not have been released without his permission.

Nandlall criticized Atwell for her role in publishing the interview, particularly for making disparaging remarks about the President’s mother. He condemned this behavior and called for accountability for those spreading such allegations, predicting a wave of lawsuits from those implicated.

He emphasized the need for standards in public discourse and the importance of respecting personal boundaries, regardless of political affiliations. Nandlall also referenced his own experiences with social media defamation, highlighting the legal actions he has taken to protect his reputation.
