Elijah Clarke, a 25-year-old unemployed resident of Melanie, was arrested by police and charged with escaping lawful custody, an offence under Section 340 of the Criminal Law Act. The incident occurred on July 24, 2024, in Vigilance, East Coast Demerara.
Today, Clarke appeared in the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court, pleaded guilty, and was sentenced to 16 months in prison.
