  • News

Minister of Home Affairs Robeson Benn officially commissioned a newly constructed Command Operations Centre in Mackenzie, Linden, on August 20, 2025. This facility represents a significant investment of $33.9 million under the government’s broader security sector upgrade program.

The Command Operations Centre is a crucial element of the ‘Safe City to Safe Country Expansion Project’ and aims to provide an “eagle-eye view” of Region 10 through advanced technological capabilities. Designed to enhance crime-fighting efforts, the centre will facilitate real-time surveillance, improved incident monitoring, and faster operational responses across the region.

At the commissioning ceremony, Minister Benn was joined by several key officials, including Permanent Secretary Mr. Andre Ally, Deputy Commissioner of Operations Mr. Errol Watts, and Regional Division #10 Commander Assistant Commissioner Kurleigh Simon, among others.

In his address, Minister Benn reaffirmed the government’s commitment to modernizing law enforcement infrastructure and expanding surveillance capabilities. He emphasized the importance of equipping the Guyana Police Force with the necessary tools to build safer, stronger communities across the nation.

The establishment of the Command Operations Centre is expected to significantly bolster public safety initiatives and enhance the overall effectiveness of law enforcement in Linden and surrounding areas.
