HGP Nightly News Reports | Retired Assistant Commissioner of Police Paul Slowe is a free man after Senior Magistrate Fabayo Azore dismissed the sexual assault charge against him at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court. The ruling comes after the prosecution was found to have failed to prove its case beyond a reasonable doubt.

In her decision, Magistrate Azore stated that she could not rely on the prosecution’s evidence, noting that it failed “miserably” to satisfy the burden of proof necessary for a conviction. This judgment brings an end to a case that has been ongoing for several years.
The allegations stemmed from claims made by a female police officer, who accused Slowe of sexually assaulting her on three occasions in March and April 2019 at Police Headquarters, Eve Leary.
Although the Magistrate had previously overruled a no-case submission from Slowe’s attorneys, allowing the prosecution to present its case, a thorough evaluation of the evidence led to the conclusion that the allegations were not proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
Slowe was represented by attorneys Dexter Todd and Dawn Cush. This ruling marks a significant milestone in a high-profile case involving the former senior officer, effectively clearing him of all criminal charges.
