ExxonMobil: Guyana Oil Output to Pass One Million Barrels Daily with Arrival of Fifth FPSO

News

Guyana’s daily oil production, already above 900,000 barrels, is expected to surpass one million barrels per day once a fifth Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel arrives and begins producing, the president of ExxonMobil Guyana said Thursday.

The Errea Wittu FPSO will be deployed at the Uaru development, the fifth project in the giant Stabroek Block. Production from the four existing projects — Liza I, Liza II, Payara and Yellowtail — currently tops 900,000 barrels per day. “We anticipate later this year that the FPSO will sail to Guyana, and before the end of the year, we anticipate Uaru to start up,” Alistair Routledge told reporters, noting the project is running ahead of schedule and on budget.

With Errea Wittu in place, ExxonMobil expects local production to exceed one million barrels daily. More than 20 development wells have already been drilled at Uaru.

ExxonMobil is also advancing additional developments, including Whiptail (targeted 2027), Hammerhead (2028) and Longtail. The company said it will submit the Longtail Field Development Plan this week and is moving to secure the necessary environmental permits and licences. Hammerhead and Longtail are being positioned as key projects for unlocking substantial offshore gas resources in addition to oil.

The company’s timeline underscores continued rapid expansion in Guyana’s offshore industry and further growth in national production capacity over the coming years.
