Narendra Jherry, a 31-year-old resident of Martyr’s Ville, Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara, has been arrested and charged with dangerous driving and breaching a one-way street. The charges fall under Section 36(1) of the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic Act, as amended by the Administration of Justice Act 1978, and Section 48(1)(c) of the same Act, respectively, pursuant to Georgetown One Way Street Order #114 of 1970.
Jherry was taken into custody on March 9, 2026, following incidents that occurred the previous day, March 8. On Wednesday, March 11, 2026, he appeared before Senior Magistrate C. Nurse at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court, where both charges were read to him.
Jherry pleaded guilty and was subsequently fined G$50,000 for dangerous driving and G$40,000 for the breach of the one-way street regulation.
