HGP Nightly News Reports : The search for 26-year-old Dailen Paneque Gómez has come to a tragic end. The Guyana Police Force confirmed on Wednesday evening that the missing woman’s body was discovered, and the case has now been escalated to a murder investigation.
Paneque Gómez, a resident of Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara (ECD), had been the subject of a missing person’s search since she disappeared on the morning of Thursday, June 18, 2026, while traveling to her job at the Enmore Regional Hospital.
Following sustained investigations by detectives from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Headquarters, the discovery was made at approximately 7:50 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24. Her decomposed remains were located in a clump of bushes along the East Coast of Demerara.
In a significant development, authorities have confirmed that a Police Constable is currently in custody in connection with the crime. The officer is being held as detectives work to determine the circumstances surrounding the death of the young woman.
The Guyana Police Force has stated that investigations are ongoing and that further details will be released as the probe progresses.
