Businessman Randy Jagdeo has been released on substantial station bail as investigations continue into the significant discovery of 23 AK-47 rifles earlier this month in Schoonard, West Bank Demerara.

Jagdeo surrendered to authorities following the issuance of a wanted bulletin related to the June 11 seizure. He had been a person of interest in the investigation since the weapons were intercepted during an operation conducted by the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) on the West Bank of Demerara.
During that operation, officers discovered the cache of 23 high-powered rifles along with ammunition stowed inside a vehicle. Crime Chief and Deputy Commissioner of Police Wendell Blanhum previously revealed that the weapons were manufactured in the United States. While one rifle was found with an intact serial number, the serial numbers on the other 22 weapons had been obliterated.
While Jagdeo has been released on bail, the investigation remains active. Authorities are treating the seizure as one of the most significant illegal arms discoveries in recent times. Police have not yet provided further details regarding the source of the weapons or potential charges, as the probe continues.
