Yan Licorish and Tony Waldron, both charged with murder, have been committed to stand trial at the next practicable sitting of the High Court. The decision was made by Senior Magistrate Leron Daly during proceedings on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court 2.

The charges stemmed from the death of 58-year-old Mohabir Singh, whose lifeless body was discovered under a shed on the premises of Kaieteur News at Saffon Street, La Penitence. A post-mortem examination conducted by Government Pathologist Dr. Nehaul Singh determined that the cause of death was a brain hemorrhage due to blunt trauma to the head.
Initial investigations led to the arrest of Licorish and Waldron, both security officers, after detectives reviewed nearby CCTV footage that provided evidence related to the case. Further proceedings will determine the next steps in the legal process.
