Police Find 128 Grams of Marijuana

During Cordon-and-Search Exercise at Plaisance

Police ranks conducted a ‘cordon and search’ exercise yesterday afternoon at a makeshift wooden stand/tent located on Britton Street, Plaisance, East Coast Demerara, where they discovered 128 grams of marijuana.

During the search, officers examined a blue metal tin and found a black plastic bag containing 36 transparent zip lock bags filled with leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis. Upon weighing, the total amounted to 128 grams.

Two male teenagers, ages 16 and 17, were observed sitting on a culvert approximately 45 to 50 feet away from the makeshift stand/tent. When questioned by police, they denied ownership of the marijuana.
