Police are investigating an alleged murder that claimed the life of a 23-year-old labourer following a violent altercation at Lovers Lane, Amelia’s Ward, Mackenzie, Linden, on Sunday evening.
The deceased has been identified as Tafawa Alexander of Scheme Hill, Wismar, who succumbed to multiple stab wounds inflicted during the incident, which occurred at approximately 18:07hrs.
According to preliminary investigations, Alexander and a 38-year-old man of Lovers Lane, Central Amelia’s Ward, were involved in an altercation when the suspect allegedly armed himself with a knife and dealt Alexander several stab wounds about his body.
Alexander was escorted to the Mackenzie Hospital Complex, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. A post-scene examination of the body revealed stab wounds to the left side of the upper chest, the left upper arm, and the left side of the head.
The suspect was subsequently arrested and taken to the Mackenzie Police Station, where he remains in custody. A knife believed to have been used in the attack was recovered and lodged as evidence.
Investigations are ongoing.
