A tragic accident on Thursday evening has claimed the life of a porter attached to the G Mining Company.
The deceased has been identified as Isaiah Malachi Williams.
According to reports, Williams was traveling home in a motor canter along the Long Creek Public Road when the vehicle crashed into a concrete bridge. The force of the collision left both Williams and the driver with significant injuries.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and extracted both men from the wreckage, subsequently transporting them to the Linden Hospital Complex. Upon arrival, medical personnel pronounced Williams dead.
The driver of the canter was admitted to the hospital in critical condition. An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident is currently underway by the Guyana Police Force.
