On Thursday, President Dr. Irfaan Ali announced that students who paid for this year’s CSEC and CAPE examinations will receive full reimbursement for up to eight subjects.

In April, President Ali revealed that the government would cover the examination fees for every student in both public and private schools, with an estimated budget of $700 million allocated for this initiative. Each student is expected to receive around $48,000.
The cost for up to eight CSEC subjects typically amounts to approximately $46,500, though it can be subsidized based on family income. This new measure is set to provide significant financial relief to families across the board.
The Caribbean Examination Council (CXC) offers 28 general CSEC subjects, as well as 22 two-unit subjects and two one-unit subjects for CAPE, which students typically take after completing the CSEC exams. The two-unit subjects are usually assessed over a two-year period.
This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to making education more accessible and supporting students in their academic pursuits.
