President Irfaan Ali’s Eid-ul-Adha Message: A Reflection on Faith and Trust

In a heartfelt message to the nation, President Irfaan Ali extended warm Eid-ul-Adha greetings to all Guyanese, particularly to the Islamic communities both in Guyana and in the diaspora. As the country gathers to celebrate this sacred occasion, he urged everyone to reflect on their intentions and the guiding presence of Allah in their lives.

“Eid-ul-Adha reminds us that while we act with purpose and conviction, the ultimate direction of our lives is shaped by divine wisdom,” President Ali stated. He emphasized that while we are agents of our own choices, Allah remains the Master of all outcomes. He quoted the Holy Quran, which states, “But you cannot will unless Allah wills – Lord of the Worlds” (81:29).

The President encouraged citizens to observe this important occasion with the understanding that surrendering to Allah is not a sign of weakness, but rather a path to rising above fear. He referenced another verse from the Quran, stating, “And whoever puts their trust in Allah, then He ˹alone˺ is sufficient for them. Certainly Allah achieves His Will. Allah has already set a destiny for everything” (65:3).

In today’s world, often driven by the quest for control and certainty, President Ali reminded everyone that true peace comes not from having all the answers, but from trusting the One who does. He shared the story of Ibrahim, illustrating that faith begins where certainty ends. “Faith is what keeps us moving, believing, and trusting when everything else tells us to stop,” he said.

“As we celebrate this festival with gratitude, let us walk forward with intention, assured that what is meant for us will come to pass, and what misses us was never ours,” he urged.

In closing, President Ali expressed his wish for all to find peace during this Eid, with hearts overflowing with contentment and journeys blessed with divine clarity. He encouraged everyone to walk the path Allah has written for them, filled with grace and light.

“Eid Mubarak!” he proclaimed, wishing blessings and joy to all.
