News Room Reports : A community is in shock following a horrific home invasion early Friday morning that left a seven-year-old child dead and his grandmother fighting for her life.
The incident occurred at the pair’s residence in the Zeelugt New Housing Scheme. According to preliminary reports, the elderly woman, who had previously suffered a stroke and was in a weakened state, was at home alone with her grandson when bandits forced their way into the house.
Relatives indicated that the young child was likely attacked after attempting to raise an alarm when the intruders entered the property. Reports from the scene suggest that the boy was brutally murdered during the encounter.
The grandmother was also severely targeted, reportedly sustaining a stab wound to her neck. She was rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency medical treatment. Her current condition remains critical.
Police investigators cordoned off the scene on Friday morning to conduct a forensic sweep of the residence and collect evidence. Law enforcement has yet to release the identities of the victims, and no arrests have been made at this time.
Authorities are currently canvassing the area for potential witnesses and surveillance footage that may help identify the perpetrators of this violent crime.
