Tragic High-Speed Crash Claims Life of 31-Year-Old Man

A 31-year-old man lost his life early Saturday morning following a high-speed crash at the intersection of Camp Street and Carifesta Avenue, near the Everest Cricket Ground.

The deceased has been identified as Christopher Rohaman, a resident of Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara. He was the driver and sole occupant of motor car number PAB 5434.

According to police investigations, the fatal accident occurred around 12:20 AM. Rohaman was reportedly traveling north along the western drive lane of Camp Street at a high speed when he lost control of the vehicle as he approached the Carifesta Avenue intersection. The car collided with a light pole before veering off and plunging into a nearby trench several feet away.

Emergency Medical Technicians from ambulance #PAJ 1054 responded promptly to the scene. They extricated Rohaman, who was found unconscious and pinned inside the wreckage. He was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital’s Accident and Emergency Unit.

Despite the efforts of medical staff, Rohaman was pronounced dead upon arrival. His body has been transferred to the hospital’s mortuary, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.

Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
