Two women, aged 41 and 55, are in police custody following a significant drug bust in Clonbrook, East Coast Demerara. Law enforcement officials reported the discovery of 51.9 kilogrammes (approximately 114 pounds) of cannabis during an intelligence-led operation on Saturday.

The operation led police to two large plastic barrels concealed on the premises, which contained several bulky parcels wrapped in plastic. These parcels were found to contain leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis.
The two women present at the site at the time of the find were promptly arrested and transported to the Cove and John Police Station along with the seized narcotics. The cannabis was weighed in their presence and officially recorded at 51.9 kilogrammes before being lodged as investigations proceed.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the drug operation.
